Friendly Faces at the Short Film Corner
In our first interview with aspiring filmmakers, we spoke with Patricia DiSalvo Viayra and Mike Viayara. Hailing from Los Angeles, Patricia and Mike are the team behind 'Naked Sushi', which they have registered with the short film corner (so check it out!). They are having a great time in Cannes, promoting their first film at their first festival. They've found the atmosphere to be welcoming as fellow festival goers are eager to discuss projects and offer advice. On the horizon, Patricia is working on organizing a 'Lady Filmmakers' festival in LA, which is accepting submissions at www.ladyfimmakers.com. Their experience in Cannes has certainly been exciting. Aside from checking out the market and mingling with other filmmakers, they have found time to visit Italy and Monaco by train, all in a days work. In their first few days they've even had a chance to try sea snails. (And we commend them on their bravery). In exploring a new city and country they have also encountered a few obstacles, like navigating the french bus system, but they seem to have taken these in stride and are excited to continue promoting their film, making contacts, and hopefully hit up a famous Cannes party. Bonne Chance to our new friends of filmfestivals.com!
