An excerpt from a message to participating filmmakers reveals the incredible challenges involved in producing this year's event: "Just a little over two months ago, the 'Red Shirt' protest situation here in Bangkok was at a critical juncture...parts of the city were burning and curfew was in place. Automatic weapons fire crackled through parts of Bangkok. The director of the festival (J Rosette, aka J "J" R) had a bag packed with a passport inside, ready to head to Cambodia in case the rumors of "civil war" in Thailand became reality. No one knew how, or when, the protest situation would be resolved. Our festival, which had progressed promisingly through pre-production, lost potential sponsorships and support as key potential sponsors ceased communications and closed their offices, while potential venues - TK Park, the Siam theater - were physically shuttered or destroyed." Up next is a dedicated script research trip to Cambodia for Camerado's 3rd feature, FREEDOM DEAL, a VN-war era drama taking place in Cambodia during Nixon's 1970 incursion into Cambodia.
