We Made It! (Barely) * Thanks to all our New Contributors

~ We Made It! ~

CAMBOFEST: Film, Video and Animation Festival of Cambodia
is happy to announce that we've met the minimum financial requirements
to continue operating through the 2009 season without interruption!

Thanks
in the end to the following new supporters as we conclude Phase 1 of
our Rainy Season/Beginning of Spring fundraising drive:

James Velaise, FRANCE
Martin Zweiback, USA
James Higgins, USA
Helge Cramer, GERMANY
Norm Fassbender & Kate Holowach, CANADA
Maurice Adams, USA
Marianne Waller, AUSTRALIA
The Kumberg Family, SWEDEN
Jennifer MacDonald, USA
Chris Swider, USA
Rolando Dubioso, GERMANY
Eveline van Dijck, NETHERLANDS
David Munoz Lopez, SPAIN
David Rogers, USA * Milek Knebel, ISRAEL

Nancy Nagrant, USA
Anonymous I & II

But as mentioned, we've only just exceeded the minimum, basic requirements
to produce the festival for this year. Even with a handover of many
festival components through the training of Khmer staff, we'll be
significantly challenged to function beyond "mission critical" level in
many areas.

For example, we're still in need of:
reliable internet, a dedicated Cambodian staffer to conduct outreach
and to coordinate the festival, even a replacement CamboFest vehicle
(our previous festival motorcycle was stolen this past November, as we
still have not been able to replace it) amongst other items.

The good news is: CamboFest is now being fiscally sponsored by the Media Alliance of Oakland, CA.
This means that, while we're still a grass-roots effort, we're now able
to offer a 501 (c) 3 tax deduction for all contributions made towards
the festival, with those contributions being processed through our
fiscal sponsor.

To make a tax deductible contribution, please visit our contribution portal on the Media Alliance website:http://media-alliance.stores.yahoo.net/restoolandte.html

...or, feel free to send a check by snail mail to:

Media Alliance

1814 Mission Street # 205

San Francisco, CA94103

**
We realize that some folks may still wonder if we're bona-fide or not,
considering this email is coming Cambodia! If you would like to speak
with our colleague Tracy Rosenberg at Media Alliance to confirm our
status a bona fide project please drop her a line at (510) 832-9000
[United States]...you can also call festival founder J Rosette in
Cambodia at [855] 011736 206 as well **

If
the tax-deduction isn't needed, but you'd still like to make a
contribution to CAMBOFEST, we'd then suggest the following secure
PayPal gateway; we'd receive the funds almost instantly, which is
incredibly important now as we strive to meet our anticipated costs:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=5452718

Any
amount is welcome and will be put to good use: a $10 donation will
cover one local staffer and meals for a day; $20 will cover local
transportation for a week. Even $5 will cover a working lunch for two
staffers at a local Khmer restaurant, or a mobile phone card with an
hour of speaking time.

Thanks
again to everyone who helped us exceed our minimum operating goals
through phase 1 of our Rainy Season fundraising drive; we couldn't have
done it without you!

Be sure to check our fundraising blog for
additional projects we'll be promoting down the line, including:
CAMBOTUBE (the "Youtube of Cambodia") and FREEDOM DEAL, a social isue
drama about two internaly displaced persons during the US incursion
into Cambodia in May 1970:

On
behalf of Mr. Tol, Vuth Tep, Narith Hoo, and other CamboFest staff,
helpers, volunteers and participants, I'd like to thank you for your
contribution.

Ar'kun Ch'ran,

J Rosette & Phun Sokunthearith (aka, "Mr. Tol")
