The Festival focuses on life tales told  through a wide range of expressive means, including feature movies, documentaries, theatrical performances, exhibitions and interviews. Biografilm provides a focus on great biographies and features thematic sections alongside the official biopic movie selection.

The general goal of the Biografilm Festival's project is to bring the biographies of cultural and artistic personalities to the audience's attention as examples of the complex contemporary scenery. In particular, by encouraging reflections on life paths and experiences, the festival is especially addressed to young people.

A special tribute will go to Paul Collins, author of the beautiful Banvard's folly who will be awarded the Lancia Celebration of Lives Award.
The Italian journalist Gianni Minà was awarded the prize in 2007.

The Official Selection will present an international selection of work that has not been distributed in Italy yet, chosen among more than 200 entries. Besides the Official Selection, Biografilm will also schedule several premieres.

The 4th edition will also feature a selection of documentaries on Andy Warhol's Factory.
The retrospective, realized in collaboration with Bellaria Film Festival, will be devoted to the English director Peter Whitehead, who documented the London and New York underground culture during the 60s, including the Beat Generation writers, Peter Brook, the Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.
