Red Rock Film Festival's blog

The Red Rock Film Festival features films, art and panels that enlighten the senses and empower the mind in Utah. Red Rock began in January of 2004 as Zion Flix held beneath the red rock of Zion National Park in Southern Utah in the red desert of the United States, and the area was key to the locations of the film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". The festival's mission is to encourage the production of media in both the independent and professional market that portray the human race in a positive light, and to applaud original works that redefine media through innovation, creativity and sensitivity that both enlightens and educates audiences from around the world.

Red Rock Film Festival of Zion Canyon Call for Entries is Open

The Call for Entries for the Red Rock Film Festival of Zion Canyon is open and the entry fee is just $11 until January 2012! Held beneath the red rocks of Zion National Park in culturally unaware* Southern Utah, the tiny international 6th Annual Red Rock Film Festival comes back in November of 2012 with more excellent programming that will both challenge and educate the mind. In 2011, the festival screened 144 films!

The Xtreme sports docs and off-the-charts dramatic features make for surprising accessories to the festival’s staple of humanity-themed documentaries and foreign film.

The festival boasts a strict "no back-door" fairness policy directing all competition entrants, including friends and "high-profile" films to submit online and get in line like everyone else. Judges in the Documentary categories have included Oscar nominee Adrian Belic, Oscar nominee Mia Iskander, Oscar winner Steven Okazaki and several others.
