Taking another walk down life's mean streets, writer/director Amos Kollek reunites with actress Anna Thompson, for whom he created a plum part in Sue, last year's well-received Panorama selection. Fiona, who's been abandoned by her mother, grows up in an abusive foster home and starts turning tricks in her teens. Strung out on drugs, she falls in and out of nasty relationships with men and women alike. Involved in the murder of three police officers and seeking refuge in a crack house, she encounters a fellow hooker. Could this be the mother who cast her aside? Kollek has again given Thompson a role that fully explores the tough vulnerability the actress brings to her performances. "She will go to a lot of places in her acting that others won't," he says. "She has an open and courageous attitude." Owen Levy |
