Homage to Michael Caine

Michael Caine

Deauville is celebrating its 25th birthday with a gala evening and a star-studded attendance: Cyd Charisse, James Coburn, John Hurt, Gena Rowlands, Sydney Pollack, Lauren Bacall, just to name a few.
The event will be followed by the Homage to Michael Caine.
Born in London, Michael Caine's father worked at the fish market and his mother as a cleaning lady. He quit school at 15 and picked up odd jobs, including serving tea at a London theatre, where he developed an interest in acting. He first got the chance to prove himself as the versatile popular screen star he became with his role as a young officer in Zulu (1964). He was nominated for best actor roles on several occasions: Alfie (1966), Sleuth (1972), and Educating Rita (1983). He won the Oscar for his supporting role in Woody Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) and a Golden Globe for Best Actor in Little Voice (1998). He is being honored tonight with an Avant-Premiere screening of The Cider House Rules, based on the novel by John Irving.
