A city is a body, falling victim to the nation. Particularly this big, kitsch and distorted city struggling for breath. I feel compassion and lament for it. All the streets are in pain because it has reached saturation levels of consumption, development and reproduction (as if they were wriggling snakes). Moments of stillness are thrown into relief against the background of whirling craziness. In that stillness, I think of how far Japan and the Japanese have gone. A wailing cry of the big city Tokyo is a warning to the world. I think tenderly of it.
