Despite what you may read in the papers I have no immediate plans to swap the comfort of my Rio apartment for the confines of her Majesty's Prison in Wandsworth. If you come and visit me in Rio, you will begin to see why.
A lot of what is written about Rio and its problems in the media is greatly exaggerated. Sure the city has its problems, but what major metropolitan area doesn't? And no other city I have seen comes close to Rio in terms of beauty.
In Rio, besides the beauty of the beach, the mountains, and the people, you can enjoy terrific restaurants and a night scene that is great at any time of the year.
As to the quality of Brazilian films I'll let you to decide!
The only major changes to take place in Rio over the last 18 months are the prices. While inflation is way down in the local currency, the prices in dollars have risen out of all proportion, making Rio one of the most expensive cities in the world after being one of the cheapest. Daylight robbery, that's what it is!
