Naked CITYCine Company
Caught still in his offices at midnight after a long day's work, Francisco ('Paco') Hoyos, leading Spanish distributor (Cine Company, Cine Mussy), a chavalier of the Order of Letters and Arts of France and doyen of Spanish nightlife, had the following suggestions for turning a long day into night.
For a late (sic) dinner
Caripén Bistro (Plaza de la Marina Española, 4), 'a former flamenco salón of Spanish legend Lola Flores', now run by a French couple, open until 2.30-3.00, El Obrador (Puente de Segovia) a more classical restaurant in West Madrid; Casa Lucio (Cava Baja 35), 'for the more mature';
For a relaxed after-dinner tipple
Chicote (gran Via, 12) 'a classic'; Cock (Calle de la Reina, 16): 'people from the profession, especially popular after visits by Princess Elena.'
For less-contained bars (often with dance floors)
Hanoi (Hortaleza 81) 'You can catch good people there'; Keeper (Juan Bravo, 31) relaunched, young-ish dancing crowd); Vogue (Edificio Eurobuilding) 'for pijas' (female nobs); and the bar zones of Malasaña, Huertas and Alonso Martinez.
On and on discos
Max (Aduana,21), open until 6-7am; Xenon (plaza de Callao, 3) 'for the gay crowd, máquina [machine] music'; Kapital (Atocha, 125) 'on the up'.
Following which, a shave and/or tweak, and into the office...
