Naked CITY

Dublin has changed enormously over the last couple of years. Economically things have improved but there's also a real sense that the success of cultural industries like film, music and fashion have had a real impact on life in the city and have made it that bit more cosmopolitan.

It's been said a million times before but Dublin really is a village. It's hard to keep a secret here and gossip and news fly around at incredible speed. This also goes for the film community and everyone compares notes on meetings with any visiting producer who is doing the rounds of production companies - so be warned!

It rightly has a reputation for being a convivial and relaxed city and there are several venues where crews and film people congregate. Friday evening (or any evening) in the Dockers on the quay is a good spot and later on clubs like Lillie's Bordello, Renards and the River Club all attract a film crowd. There also seems to be a wrap party on every weekend so if you hang round the right places for long enough, chances are you'll get an invitation.
