PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Because of the growing parking problem in Brussels' town centre, public transport is increasingly becoming a time-saving and cheap alternative

The Underground (indicated with a white 'M' from Metro on a blue background) runs from 6.00 to 24.00. As well as two metro lines, with a total length of 33 km, there are also two pre-metro lines. Most underground stations have also been decorated by celebrated contemporary Belgian artists.

Above-ground public transport consists of yellow trams and buses (there are also night buses). Tram and bus stops are marked by red and white signs. Where 'sur demande' is signed, you can flag down a passing bus.

Maps of the entire Brussels public transport network - as well as leaflets on artwork in the Brussels underground stations - are available free of charge at the Tourist Information Bureau.
