The Last Supper. As the final note, an enormous dinner for 300 was served in the Salon des Ambassadeurs up in the heights of the Palais. Prepared by the Martinez Hotel chef, the invited savored Piper-Heidsieck champagne, a homard appetizer, a Mediterannean fish plate with assorted mushrooms, topped with a Palme d'Or strawberry delight.

It was a star studded arrival, from film teams - including the closing film from Raoul Ruiz - to the stars presenting in the ceremony such as Jodie Foster, Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas.

The first step in being in a winner is to share the emotions and meanings behind such an award. Each one got an opportunity, from the more elaborating David Lynch or Nanni Moretti to the more reserved Zacharias Kunuk.
Amos Kollek
"I just write what kind of shoots through my mind," Kollek said of his screenplays' geneses. "And then I see something and it starts to come together."
Nanni Moretti
Charlotte Rampling led a comfortably paced, to-the-point event. Coming up on stage were winners with happy faces, and none more demonstrative than Nanni Moretti who threw his arms up in victory.
