There
are also 22 films being presented in the Certain Regard section, representing
a mix of Cannes regulars and new filmmakers. This section is non-competitive;
however, there are six filmmakers presenting their first film in the
line-up and who will therefore be competing for the Camera d'Or.
The Camera d'Or prize was created in 1978 and awards the best first film presented at Cannes in any category: Official Selection, Certain Regard, Director's Fortnight or Critics' Week. The winning film is chosen by a special international jury presided this year by Michel Piccoli. The films in the Certain Regard selection have been chosen by the Gan Foundation for Cinema to be in competition for the Gan special prize, which bestows on the winning film distribution aid. Presided by Lambert Wilson, the winner will be announced May 22 in Paris. The Line up: |
