Rave Night in Paris
Film Four International set up in an abandoned bus station, one room for each film being promoted in Cannes: Acid House, Vigo, Martha meets Frank, Daniel & Lawrence, and Siberia. Other than a few technical difficulties, the music was flowing. The feature film Hang the DJ was shot in fourteen cities around the world giving a cultural look at DJs and the funny side of clubland. Their party did not get rolling until about 3 a.m. Among the goodies was a HTDJ shoulder bag, finger flashlight, sunglasses and the movie soundtrack featuring Mini Summer, Taihisha Grant, Junior Vasquez, Roger Sanchez, q-bert and many more. |
| On the competitive edge, The General by John Boorman received a decent buzz around town. Shot in black & white, the film tells the story of the true legendary Irish mafioso Martin Cahill. The party honoring the film was held in true Irish tradition: in an Irish pub with the Guiness flowing. A bit low key, with the exception of Boorman’s daughter Katrina – in Cannes for a movie as well – who herself is quite a character with the allure of a female drag queen. | |
