Via Digital reshuffle

Spanish digital satcaster Via Digital, whose acquisitions from indie Spanish producers have helped turn Spain into one of the hottest buying territories in Europe, now looks set for an executive re-shuffle.

According to the Prisa-owned Spanish daily El Pa’s, Carlos Reboll, Jorge Sanchez-Gallo and Jose Luis Vara will ankle their positions as directors of programmes, acquisitions and marketing respectively.

Prisa is a lead partner in Via rival CSD. Other sources suggested Sanchez-Gallo would be moving to another position at V’a. The restructuring is said to be an early decision by respected exec Juan Ru’z de Gauna, who was last month appointed md of V’a, representing the interests of its leading shareholders Spanish telco Telef—nica. V’a president Pedro Perez was unavailable for comment. John Hopewell

Jersey Shore launches

Danny DeVito's Jersey Films has launched its own New York-based indie entity, Jersey Shore, to develop and produce 12 low-budget films over the next three years. Jersey Shore's projects will all be in the $10 million range, but will also include smaller $1 million and $5 million pictures.

Jersey Shore's development and overhead cost will be split between Jersey Films and October Films, which through a three-year first look deal will produce and distribute the Jersey Shore product in the US. Good Machine will handle foreign sales.
Jersey's DeVito, Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher, along with the new division's head, Jonathan Weisgal, and October's Scott Greenstein, Bingham Ray and John Schmidt, will be involved in the decision-making process.
