FRIDAY 10 MAY

TAURUS (20 April-20 May) You are practical and persistent. You have a dogged determination and work like hell. Many people think you are stubborn and bull-headed. You are a Communist. TODAY: Your determination to make an appointment with buyers at companies like Miramax may go a little smoother if you don't keep referring to them as capitalist pigs. And you must let go of that man's arm now. He really is only a waiter at the Carlton Hotel.

Anyone for Tennis?

Look out for the fifth annual Rogers and Cowan Tennis Tournament, which is being held at the Hotel Martinez Tennis Club 13-17 May. Despite a winning performance from the pairing of William Tyrer (Newmarket Group) and Gary Mansour (Mansour Travel), the real star last year was a former great, now in his twilight years, who came to Cannes to be fêted by a bunch of keen amateurs. Sounds familiar? Ilie Nastase is pictured.

Football at the festival

British football fans anxious not to miss today's FA Cup Final should head for the British Pavilion, where Bob 'Mr Fixit' Bingham has set up a satellite link by the bar area. Kick-off time for Manchester United versus Liverpool is 4pm.

A couple of years ago, the football-crazy president of Initial Entertainment, Graham King, flew his buyers over to London for the Final, only to see his beloved Chelsea lose 4-0. He'll be hoping for better luck next month, when he takes them to the European Championships in England.
