Stephen, un jeune garçon vivant à New York dans les années 60, se sent rejeté par son père lorsque sa mère tombe très gravement malade. Stephen va alors être recueilli par ses deux oncles et va partager avec eux une vie de bohème et d'excentricité. Cette nouvelle vie lui donnera confiance en lui-même et lui permettra d'affronter à la fois la mort de sa mère, dont il était si proche, et les turbulences de la pré-adolescence.
Stephen, a young boy in New York during the 60's. In an effort to cope with an emotional father and his mother's illness, Stephen goes to live with his two wildly eccentric uncles. By moving into the funny, magical and sometimes painful world of his uncles, Stephen gains self-confidence. Finally, comforted by his uncles' idiosyncratic love, Stephen is able to face the loss of his mother and the emotional turbulence of pre-adolescence.
