Gizella Weisz vit quelque part en Europe de l'Est, à la fin des années 80. Elle travaille pour un bureau d'études quand soudainement elle est nommée responsable d'un poste avancé. Un train l'amène jusqu'à une usine qui semble désaffectée mais qui néanmoins fonctionne encore. Le poste avancé est encore plus loin. Gizella poursuit son voyage en draisine. Lorsqu'elle rencontre un homme épuisé, lui aussi sur une draisine, elle ne reconnaît pas son ancien collègue. Dans les montagnes recouvertes de neige, se trouve une cabane aménagée de deux lits, habitée par un homme que l'on nomme Petya ou Öcsi. C'est dans cet endroit que doit vivre Gizella et qui sait pour combien de temps.
Gizella Weisz lives somewhere in Eastern Europe at the end of the 80s. She works for a designing institute when she is suddenly appointed head of an outpost. A train takes her to a shabby and run-down factory lying in the middle of a muddy industrial landscape. The outpost however, is still farther. Gizella continues her journey on a rail-car. She crosses another rail-car going in the opposite direction with a man in poor condition, Gizella does not recognize her former colleague. On snowbound mountains, where an ice-cold shack with two beds can be found, lives a man called Petya or Öcsi. This is where Gizella is going to spend the next part of her life...
