Dans les années 40, David, un jeune garçon, grandit dans une petite ville profondément religieuse du sud des États-Unis. Lorsque sa tante Mae, ancienne chanteuse de cabaret, vient s'installer dans la maison vétuste qu'il partage avec son père et sa mère, elle ne tarde pas à devenir sa seule amie. Avec son expérience du monde du théâtre, cette femme enflammée apporte à l'univers de David du "glamour" et de l'excitation jusque-là inconnus.
David, a young boy, grows up in a small Southern Bible Belt town in the 1940's. When his Aunt Mae, a former club singer, comes to stay in the threadbare home he shares with his father and his mother, she soon becomes his sole companion. This vibrant woman, with her theatrical past, bestows a previously unknown glamour and excitement to David's world.
