En 1936, dès les premiers jours de la guerre civile espagnole, David, un jeune homme au chômage, quitte Liverpool pour se joindre à la lutte contre le fascisme. Il rejoint une section internationale de la milice républicaine sur le front Aragon et aux côtés de ses camarades, il connaîtra les passions de la guerre.
Lorsqu'il reviendra à Barcelone, il se retrouvera alors déchiré entre sa loyauté envers le parti communiste et son nouvel amour, Blanca. La fin de ce conflit et le retour de David vers ses camarades sur le front peuvent sembler tragiques, mais son rêve d'un changement révolutionnaire restera inaltéré.
1936. David, an unemployed young man, leaves Liverpool to fight against Fascism in the early days of the Spanish Civil War. He joins an international section of the Republican Militia on the Aragon front and together with his comrades he experiences the passions of war.
On returning to Barcelona he finds he is torn between loyalty to the Communist Party and his new found love, Blanca. The resolution of this conflict and David's return to his comrades at the front may seem tragic but his dream of revolutionary change remains undimmed.
