About Stony Brook Film Festival
The Stony Brook Film Festival presented by Island Federal showcases the best in independent film premieres over ten stimulating days. All screen in Staller Center’s main stage theatre at Stony Brook University.
You’ll experience talented performances by stars of the future and also see some familiar faces. The Stony Brook Film Festival invites filmmakers to represent their films and participate in question and answer sessions after screenings. You’ll hear from directors, actors, producers and crew from all over the world.
Who:
The Stony Brook Film Festival presented by Island Federal is produced by Staller Center for the Arts, a large performance venue on the campus of Stony Brook University.
What:
The Stony Brook Film Festival will be in its 23rd year in 2018. The ten-day festival will be held from Thursday, July 19 through Saturday, July 28, 2018. In 2017 we had over 15,000 attendees which included passholders and single ticket buyers. Typically, each Festival feature is paired with a short film. Two features and two shorts are screened each evening, with additional screenings on the weekend.
Where:
All films are shown in Staller Center’s Main Stage Theatre, which has over 1000 seats. The theater has stadium seating, wide aisles, and excellent site lines. Parties (both public and private) are held throughout the Festival both on campus and off. Stony Brook University, part of New York State’s public university system, is located on the north shore of Long Island. Stony Brook is about 50 miles from New York City and a train station adjoins the campus. Long Island Sound’s public beaches are a mile away from campus.
How:
Island Federal's generous support as a presenting sponsor extends well into the future. Additional sponsors for the 2017 Stony Brook Film Festival are Campolo, Middleton & McCormick, LLP; HBO; Suffolk County; The Village Voice and WLIW21.
How to experience:
Buy a Gold Pass for VIP reserved seating, or buy a Regular Pass and and tickets to Opening Night Reception and Closing Night Awards Reception for the maximum film festival experience.
