Documentary: ALIAS RUBY BLADE: A Story of Love and RevolutionApril 19th, New York Tribeca Film Festival Premiere Must see documentary about the courageous journey of Australian Kirsty Sword Gusmão, aspired documentarian and turned-humanitarian advocate, for the small nation of East Timor. This remarkable story documents the struggle of the East Timorese through the moral conscious and love of Kirsty. She became a undercover agent for the Timorese clandestine resistance against Indonesia, with the code name: Ruby Blade. Serving as a spy for the East Timorese charismatic rebel movement’s leader Xanana Gusmao, while he was in in Jakarta's Cipinang prison sentenced for life for his guerilla activities, through their correspondence exchange, they fell in love. Xanana was finally released in 99 becoming the first president of the new nation, and Kirsty became first lady. Alias Ruby Blade is a captivating and inspirational testament that ordinary people united, can make a difference and change the course of history. The story resembles recent events such as the Arab Spring in Egypt and the Occupy Wall street movement in the United States, that the human spirit can’t be surpassed. L. Fietz
