European Film Forum Tallinn eyes the continent's future in the digital content race
Titled "Breaking Windows - Tackling Convergence in the European Media Landscape", the Forum is a full-day executive level public debate and showcase conference on Monday 21 November, tackling this year's dramatic changes in the European media landscape and debating new initiatives from the creative and tech fields. International content and digital industry leaders will be sharing the stage, including speakers from Sony Pictures Entertainment, Rovio, BitTorrent, Electronic Merchants Association, MTV Networks, NHK, Trust Nordisk, TV2 Denmark and others. The European Film Forum (EFF) was proposed by the European Commission in its 2014 Communication on European Film in the digital era, and the events aim to help develop a strategic policy agenda in the framework of the proposed Digital Single Market. The Film Forum in Tallinn focuses on the intersection between film, content, technology and startup sectors, drawing from Estonia's unique background in spearheading digital society developments in Europe. This year's edition follows up the highly regarded first edition held in 2015 that saw Vice President, Digital Single Market, Andrus Ansip meeting the industry alongside debates on the various aspects of the single market proposal. As of 2014 the festival holds the FIAPF accreditation for holding an international competition programme which puts the festival into the so- called A-category of film festivals, alongside other 14 festivals in the world (including Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Karlovy Vary, San Sebastian, Shanghai, Tokyo etc). Black Nights has an umbrella structure with two sub-festivals PÖFF Shorts and youth and children's film festival Just Film taking place concurrently with the main festival,
