Sundance Institute and Red Crown Productions announced today Stephanie Langhoff, producer of The Bronze, as this year’s recipient of the Sundance Institute | Red Crown Producer’s Award.

Through the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program, the Award grants $10,000 to an emerging producer of a film at the Sundance Film Festival. The award recognizes bold vision and a commitment to continuing work as a creative producer in the independent space.  Past award recipients include: Elisabeth Holm  (Obvious Child), James Johnston & Toby Halbrooks  (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints) and Josh Penn & Dan Janvey (Beasts of the Southern Wild). The award was announced at the annual Producers Lunch at the Sundance Film Festival designed to celebrate producers across the Festival.

Langhoff is producing partners with the filmmaking team of Jay and Mark Duplass. Together they have worked on the Duplass brothers’ films Jeff, Who Lives at Home, The Do-Deca-Pentathlon and the recently premiered HBO television series Togetherness. She has also worked on Sundance Film Festival official selections The Skeleton Twins by Craig Johnson and Safety Not Guaranteed by Colin Trevorrow. Before partnering with the Duplass brothers, Langhoff was an executive at Revolution Studios in New York where she started as an assistant. Prior to her career in film, Langhoff worked as an investment banker after graduating from the University of Virginia.

The Bronze / U.S.A. (Director: Bryan Buckley, Screenwriters: Melissa Rauch, Winston Rauch) — In 2004, Hope Ann Greggory became an American hero after winning the bronze medal for the women's gymnastics team. Today, she's still living in her small hometown, washed-up and embittered. Stuck in the past, Hope must reassess her life when a promising young gymnast threatens her local celebrity status.

The Sundance Institute | Red Crown Producer’s Award is one part of Sundance Institute’s Creative Producing Initiative which encompasses a year-round series of Labs, Fellowships, granting and events focusing not only on nurturing the next generation of independent producers, but renewing the community of veteran producers dedicated to sustaining the vibrancy and vitality of independent film.
