HawkFilme Is A Semi-Finalist At An International Science-Fiction Film FestivalALEPH TO TAW – abreger, a short film by James W. Hawk was a semi-finalist at The NanoCon International Science-Fiction Film Festival this year. Here is NanoCon’s description of their event: “This year, the NanoCon Mk. IV Science-Fiction Convention began on Friday, March 24, 2017 with The NanoCon International Science-Fiction Film Festival. The annual festival accepts submissions of short-subject, science-fiction films from all over the world. This year 959 films were submitted from 88 countries.” ALEPH TO TAW - abreger is the study of the last-man-on-Earth’s thought process. Gene Ratere seems to be the last person on Earth after a nuclear holocaust. What will he do with the rest of his life? How does he view his situation? What are his hopes and dreams? What is his outlook for the future? The film stars E. Leonard Martensonand features the voice of Greg Nutcher. James W. Hawk was the writer, producer and director. Hawk James W.
(HawkMedia Studios / HawkFilme / OldMan Hawk Film) James "Jim" W. Hawk was born in New Eagle, Pennsylvania. He is of German, Irish, Scottish and Native American (Seneca) decent. At the age of three, he was moved to Cleveland, Ohio. In 1972, he pursued a career in industrial sales and marketing with a Fortune 500 company which resulted in he and his family being relocate to Rochester, New York, South Bend, Indiana and finally, New Haven, Connecticut. Jim's first independent film project was a two hour and four part documentary called The Old School Roadster on a Budget featuring Larry, a local car guy who built a Roadster in his garage. It was aired on television stations throughout Connecticut. The next project was a commercial for Doritos. The winner of the contest would have their entry shown during the Super Bowl. He didn't win, but he made an outstanding creative work nonetheless. Having these under his belt, he needed the next greater challenge...he wanted to make a short narrative film. Jim wrote, produced and directed Alpha to Omega: Part 4 with limited resources, but plenty of ingenuity. He wanted to keep it simple so he developed a story line and screenplay featuring the last man on Earth. After lots of work and some luck finding resources, it all came together as his first narrative short film. Since that time, he has produced, written and directed several short films, documentaries, music filmes commercials and industrial presentations. He has also worked for the Connecticut Film Industry Training Program for two years as an Associate Producer and Director of the "behind the scenes" film of the program for four years. He has been interviewed on television regarding the making of one of his short films. He has had several minor acting parts in independent films. He has taken filmmaking classes at Quinnipiac University. He has had his films shown at film festivals, on local television and at other public venues.
