With today's jury meetings and rumors about the strongest contenders, Fantas has a very strong program today, especially the TV Globo Special, with four productions of the Brazilian company, the European premiere of "Violent Revenge", of the American Brett Donowho, with Bruce Willys in the leading role, preceded by the European anthology of "The Hollow Child", a horror film already winning several international awards.

 

SPECIAL BRAZIL

 

In the TV Globo Special, the presence of the Brazilian actor Tony Ramos, of the director Mauro Mendonça Filho, already winner of two Emmys (the Oscar of the television), in the Port, stands out in Porto to present in Fantasporto "Vade Retro" its most recent series of TV. With them, is also at Porto Ricardo Pereira, director-general of TV-Globo in Portugal. In this session Mauro Mendonça Filho will be honored by Fantasporto, before the presentation of "Vade Retro" with the attribution of the Fantasporto Career Award. The series is about Celeste (Monica Iozzi), a naive and naive lawyer who is hired by the powerful and seductive Abel Zebu (Tony Ramos), an executive who gives motivational talks to business managers and is in the process of divorce. Celeste does not realize that the purpose of the approach is to use it as a plaything in the ambit of the businessman's suspicious business and ends up giving in to the charm of Abel Zebu, despite being warned by his mother that everything indicates that the businessman can be in the Truth the Devil himself ...

Tony Ramos will receive Saturday, but at the closing ceremony, the Fantasporto Career Award, along with critic and director Lauro António and British director Harley Cokeliss.

As for "Half File," another of the films to be shown in the presence of its director Santiago Dellape tells the story of a head of a public bureau with a bitter end of the year. CARCEREIROS AND THE DIVINE COMEDY

 

This special TV Globo also includes the productions of Globo "Carcereiros", by José Eduardo Belmonte, with Rodrigo Lombardi in the leading role, a prison guard in the face of his problems and the prisoners he watches.

Also part of this TV Globo Special is the presentation of the feature film "A Comedia Divina" by Toni Venturi, who participates in the official Fantasporto Cinema section.

The plot of "The Divine Comedy" is inspired by the provocative tale "The Church of the Devil" by Machado de Assis, the most important Brazilian realist writer of the 20th century. XIX, in which the Devil himself comes to earth to open his own church and the world becomes a pandemonium of delights and confusions ...

Director Toni Venturi will also be in Porto to present his film accompanied by the actress Débora Doboc, his wife, who is also one of the protagonists of "The Divine Comedy".

 

A NIGHT TO THE FANTASIES ...

 

Also noteworthy for the film that opens today's schedule of the Grand Auditorium, "Fractured" by Briton Jamie Patterson, in European premiere, plus a version of the classic horror movie theme of the couple who will spend a romantic weekend which turns out to be very bad. Another highlight of the day is the international premiere of "The Hollow Child" by Canadian Jeremy Lutter, in which an adopted teenager does her best to unmask a member of her new family who is a supernatural impostor in order to save your sister ...

The program of the Small Auditorium opens with the exhibition of the competitors to the Portuguese Cinema - Film Schools Prize. At 16:00 the productions of UTAD - Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro University and the Catholic University of Porto are exhibited. At 6:30 pm the films of EPI / ETIC - Escola Técnica de Imagem e Comunicação (Lisbon) and ESAD - School of Art and Design of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria are shown.

The 'director's cut' version of 'Dream Demon' by Harley Cokeliss, following the restoration and digitization by the British Film Institute of this British horror film cult film, is being held at the 9:30 pm session. 30th anniversary. The film will be presented by the director, who the next day receives, at the closing ceremony of the Festival, and as we said, the Fantasporto Career Award.
