Evropa Film AktEurope by Europe (L’Europe autour de l’Europe) is a month-long festival of art and author film from countries throughout Europe, held in Paris since 2006. The Festival presents both contemporary films and classics, films that formed the bedrock of the national cinemas of the Greater Europe.The festival shows feature films, documentaries, shorts, animations, new media and experimental films. Nine recently produced films (unreleased in France) compete for the Prix Sauvage – a statuette of a dancing wolf and money award, given by the jury composed of the eminent European film artists and professionals (Krzysztof Zanussi, Pierre-Henri Deleau, Bob Swaim, Jean Douchet, Jean-François Lepetit ...) for the best film as a work of art. With the ambition to stimulate the renewal of the European film production and emerging European talents, the Festival places professional encounters in the heart of its politics. In addition to screenings, it presents master classes and panel discussions with filmmakers and prestigious guests from throughout Europe: Henning Carlsen, Neil Jordan, Jonas Mekas, Marta Meszaroz, Kira Muratova, Stephen Rea, Pierre Rissient, Sergey Selyanov, Jim Sheridan, Jos Stelling, Istvan Szabo, Jan Troell, Agnès Varda were among the guests. 11th edition will take place from March 16 to April 17, 2016. GEFF L’Europe autour de l’Europe / Grande Europe Film Festival opens submissions for its 2016 editionWe are happy to announce the 11th edition of the Festival which will take place in Paris from March 16th to April 17th. During a month L’Europe autour de l’Europe presents a selection of films d’auteur coming from 47 countries of the European Council. The main aim of the Festival is the development and the strengthening of the European audiovisual network. We are working to establish connections between the classical cinematography and the emerging talents as well as links among national cinemas of the countries of the Grande Europe. During the previous editions our guests were the renowned masters of European cinema Anja Breien, Henning Carlsen, Nana Djordjadze, Peter Fleischmann, Agnieszka Holland, Neil Jordan, Dusan Hanak, Jonas Mekas, Marta Meszaros, Kira Mouratova, Jim Sheridan, Slobodan Sijan, Jos Stelling, Hans Jürgen Syberberg, Istvan Szabo, Jan Troell, Agnès Varda, Krzysztof Zanussi… but also the new talented artists: Gust van Den Berghe, Gilles Deroo et Marianne Pistone, Frauke Finsterwalder, Eugen Green, Stefan Ivancic, Ignas Jonynas, Menelaos Karamaghiolis, Miguel Llanso, Veiko Ounpuu, Penny Panayotopoulou, Verena Paravel, Andriana Stojkovic, Szabolsc Tolnai, Ninja Thyberg, Yorgos Tsemberopoulos, Jan Vardoen, Eskil Vogt… Come to Paris next spring and celebrate the cinema with us!
