The Voice of Ludmila is a film about love and memories and how the Past is always present in Life. Twenty years ago there was a referendum in Sweden if there should be nuclear power or not. At the time it was an issue about life and death, future or disaster.
Today there are nuclear power plants in Sweden. In 1986 Ljudmila Ignatenko was 23 years old, very much in love with her husband Vasilij, a fireman, and five months pregnant. They lived in Pripyat, the city built around the Chernobyl nuclear plant. On the night between April 25 and 26 Vasilij was sent out. There was a fire at the nuclear plant. “Go to sleep again - I will wake you up when I get back", he said.
