Every year, the Stockholm Film Festival lets the audience choose their favourite film. This year’s Audience Award goes to Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s Mustang. Mustang was also awarded with an Aluminium Horse for Best Script, written by Alice Winocour, director of Maryland, and Deniz Gamze Ergüven. The Audience Award was awarded for the first time in 2009, with The Cove by Louie Psihoyos receiving the most votes. Other winning films include Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave and Xavier Dolan’s Mommy. There are three ways for the audience to vote: at the cinema after a film has been screened, at the Festival website or through the Festival app. The votes were cast until the last day of the festival, Sunday November 22.
