Within the framework of the final preparations for the fifth edition of the Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) taking place from the 17th to 23rd of March, 2016, festival director Azza Elhusseiny, revealed that the book entitled OMAR SHARIF IN THE EYES OF THE WORLD will be released during the festival days as a tribute to the memory of the late and great Egyptian actor, international star Omar Sharif.
The renowned film critic Ali Abou-Shady has written the intro of this important book that will include a wide range of articles published about the international star Omar Sharif in various media and different languages.
Abou-Shady wrote: When Luxor African Film Festival chose the name of Omar Sharif for the tribute of this edition; the primary objective was to confirm the Egyptian identity of this great star and his belonging to the Egyptian homeland. Sharif has had a great respect and love for the Egyptian people.
It was important to see a great artist like Sharif in the eyes of the others who made him a legend as all the different media agreed on his legendary stardom. The book will include 100 articles in its original seven languages, from nine countries: UK, US, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Russia and China. 50 articles were selected for translation into Arabic.
The festival will also issue three issue of its bulletin during the 5th edition: The first about Carthage Film Festival that will be celebrated by presenting ten films that won its Golden Tanit.
LAFF was founded and organized by Independent Shabab Foundation for Support and Development with the sponsorship of the Ministries of Culture, Youth and Tourism, Foreign Affairs and cooperation with Luxor Governorate, Film Syndicate.
