SPECIAL GRAND PRIX DES AMÉRIQUES AND 5-FILM RETROSPECTIVE
TO HONOR ISABELLE ADJANI AT MONTREAL WORLD FILM FESTIVAL

The internationally renowned French star Isabelle Adjani will be honored with a Special Grand Prix des Amériques and a five-film retrospective at the 2004 Montréal World Film Festival, August 26 - September 6.

The dazzling star of some 30 films will be presented with the Grand Prix at a tribute evening Friday, August 27, Festival President Serge Losique announced today.

Five films that mark the high points of her remarkable career will be shown during the festival, Camille Claudel (Bruno Nuytten, 1988), L'Histoire d'Adèle H. (François Truffaut, 1975), Adolphe (Benoît Jacquot, 2002), L,Été meurtrier (Jean Becker, 1983), and Mortelle randonnée (Claude Miller, 1983).

"For film fans worldwide, Isabelle Adjani is an extraordinary artist, equally at home in transforming herself when playing profound and exceptional characters or seemingly light roles with an expert touch," Mr. Losique stated. "The range and passion of her work has already earned her membership in the pantheon of screen stardom alongside such illustrious names as Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, Ingrid Bergman and Katherine Hepburn.
