Abel Ferrara guest at CurtocIrcuito: Intl Cinema Festival - Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain) - 3rd to 9th October

Two special guests, American filmmaker Abel Ferrara and Ucranian documentary maker Sergei Loznitsa will travel to Santiago de Compostela during the next edition of Curtocircuíto. Internationally renowned, both will visit the festival after the likes of Cannes, Venice or Berlinale.

Abel Ferrara will visit Curtocircuíto as a programmer, curating a special program featuring some of the essential movies in his training as filmmaker. Ferrara will perform a Q&A with the festival’s audience as well as present some the short films he directed in the ’70s at the town’s Teatro Principal.

Abel Ferrara’s short films to be shown at Teatro Principal are the following:
-Nicky’s Film (1971, USA)
-The Hold Up (1972, USA)
-Could It Be Love (1973, USA)

This year’s retrospective is dedicated to Sergei Loznitsa, a mathematician who, after working in Kiev’s Cybernetic Institute began directing documentaries, with great success, in 1997. Lonznitsa’s retrospective will be a are opportunity to revisit his exquisite filmography, screening the following works:
-Portrait (2002, Russia)
-The train station (2000, Russia)
-Life, autumn (1998, Russia-Germany)
-Blockade (2005, Russia)
-Factory(2004, Russia)
-The event (2015, The Netherlands-Bélgium)
-Letter (2012, The Netherlands-Russia)
-Northern light (2008, Russia)
-The old Jewish cemetery (2014, Latvia-The Netherlands)
-Reflections (2014, France, Bosnia-Herzegovina-Switzerland-Italy-Portugal-Bulgaria-Germany)
-The miracle of Saint Anthony (2012, Portugal)

Loznitsa and Ferrara, two big names to be added to an intense multidisciplinary program with music, education and live cinemas, and, of course, films.
