A record number of attendants at Fantasia's Industry Rendez-Vous

After announcing the creation of Fantasia’s Industry Rendez-Vous and the Frontières International Co-Production Market (including the addition of Off-Frontières projects), Montreal's Fantasia International Film Festival has now confirmed a record number of attendees from the film industry at the festival.

A total of 250 film professionals are scheduled to attend Fantasia during its second weekend, July 26 to 29, to participate in its Industry Rendez-Vous and Frontières International Co-Production Market. Among those, 84 producers, 59 filmmakers, 27 distributors, 11 sales agents, 24 members of the international press, and 20 festival programmers will be coming to Montreal. Furthermore, over 100 filmmakers, producers and actors are slated to host their films's premieres at Fantasia.

Over the four days of the event, strategic meeting sessions will be held around the Frontières and Off-Frontières projects. A conference series has been organized to assemble participants around current industry topics, such as:  International Co-Production - Practical Funding Aspects (Panel with 4 International Producers); Shooting possibilities in Quebec (Presentation by the Quebec Film and Television Council); Transmedia Promotion Before and During Production (Panel with 4 case studies); Direct-to-Fan Distribution and Digital Marketing of your Film (Master Class by Jon Reiss); and Finding an International Sales Agent and Making the Deal (Panel with 3 International Sales Agents).

Fantasia is also happy to announce a new partnership with Festival Scope. The online screening platform is known for presenting films from the most prestigious film festivals in the world and collaborating with some of the most influential co-production markets. This partnership will promote Fantasia in two ways: first, by highlighting project descriptions and previous works by the filmmakers whose initiatives have been selected to participate in Frontières; and second, by presenting a selection of films from this year’s Fantasia programming. Previous works will soon be available to give Rendez-Vous participants a chance to research the Frontières projects before attending Fantasia’s market. A selection of films from this year’s edition of Fantasia will be available to view by registered Festival Scope members once the festival is over.

Widely acclaimed as one of the largest and most influential genre film festivals in the world, the Fantasia International Film Festival will host its 16th edition from July 19 to August 9, 2012 (two extra days have been added to accomodate a record number of 150 films in the festival programming). The new website, with details of the festival's programming and schedule, will be online July 11.

For more information about the Fantasia Industry Rendez-Vous, you can consult its schedule here, descriptions of its conferences and events here and a list of the Festival and Industry Rendez-Vous attendees here.
