In a measure designed to boost the Netherlands’ attractiveness to international filmmakers, the Dutch Cabinet yesterday announced the allocation of an extra €20m to the Dutch film industry, starting 2014. The additional incentive follows a parliamentary motion by MPs Bergkamp (D66) and Monasch (PvdA) that called for a study into the effectiveness of film measures already in place across numerous other territories, designed to attract inward investment from the international film community. Dutch ministers Weekers (Finance), Kamp (Economic Affairs) and Bussemaker (Education, Science & Culture) acknowledged the competitive disadvantage for the Dutch film industry internationally. Over the last few years the Netherlands has been unable to attract international film productions, while Dutch film producers were often forced to shoot and post-produce their films abroad. 01.11.2013 | Editor's blog Cat. : PROS
