Colin Farrell speaks

Dubai International Film Festival hosts public conversation with leading actor Colin Farrell

Colin Farrell, the star of In
Bruges, Phone Booth and Minority Report, has legions of fans across the world, and had earlier walked the red carpet at DIFF along with the cast of ‘The Way Back,’ including Jim Sturgess (Heartless, 21, The Other Boleyn Girl), Ed Harris (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Appaloosa), Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, City of Ember, The Lovely Bones), Mark Strong, Dragoş Bucur, and Gustaf Skarsgård.

The Way Back, the first film in seven years from master director Peter Weir, is an Exclusive Media Group, National Geographic Entertainment and Imagenation Abu Dhabi presentation and an Exclusive Films presentation. The gripping film tells the story of a multicultural group of prisoners who escape from a Stalinist gulag during World War II but then have to survive walking more than 5,000 miles of treacherous trails across five countries to gain their freedom.

-DIFF PRESS RELEASE.

On December 19, 2010, Colin spoke on panel to a theater full of devoted fans.

During interview, Colin spoke of using his 'vulnerability' to access the strongest part of himself in all of his roles. He told audience he doesn't regret any of his roles as they have all brought him to where he is now. During the interview people kept coming in and seating himself and he joked, 'well, if we stay here till tomorrow, the theater will actually be full'. lol! He was definitely not the cocky man everyone assumes him to be but, as vulnerable and real as his roles. When asked about the Russian character 'Valka' he plays in The Way Back, he admits it was one of the most difficult roles he has ever played as he felt that when he was in the role, he was like on the outside looking in. He felt in the role of Valka while acting but between takes he admits he was a mess, neither himself or his character.

For more on this interview, stay tuned.
