DOK.fest München is one of the largest festivals for documentary films in Europe. The international programme includes three relevant competition sections and ten awards (2,500 to 10,000 Euros). In 2017, the festival celebrated a new record of over 43,000 visitors.

Film submission

For the upcoming DOK.fest we are looking for outstanding narrative documentary films with a minimum duration of 52 minutes. Premieres will be preferred. The call runs until December 15th, 2017.

For our school programme DOK.education we are looking for professional short films (10 to 30 minutes) showing powerful stories about kids and adolescents (8 to 18 years), told in an artistic and creative way. For this section, a German language version is required. The call runs until December 8th, 2017.

Please find here the regulations and all details about the registration

Documentary Film Music Award

The Documentary Film Music Award honours one composition every year, which relates in an extraordinary way with the narrative of a documentary film. It provides a platform for the works of composers and the value of music as an additional means for the narrative in documentary films.

Composers and directors from the German speaking area are invited to submit their original film compositions for a new feature-length documentary film (German speaking production).

The call runs until December 15th, 2017.

Please find here the call details

DOK.forum Marketplace

The DOK.forum Marketplace invites the most exciting concepts for documentary film, composition, series, webdoc, VR and interactive media from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. At moderated roundtables filmmakers discuss their projects in development with commissioning editors, producers and distributors – in the competition for prestigious awards and fundings.

The call opens on December 12th, 2017.
Please find here further information on the DOK.forum Marketplace

Composition Funding

The Composition Funding is aimed to strengthen the collaboration of filmmakers and film composers and to support the creation of contemporary film compositions.
