IEFTA and IFIB promote three filmmakers from Bangladesh at a Party in Cannes with Marco Orsini and Samia Zamanleft to right: Bruno Chatelin, Marco Orsini (IEFTA) Gary Springer International Film Initiative of Bangladesh IEFTA International Emerging Film Talent Association partnered for this great event on the croisette during 70th Cannes Film Festival. IEFTA A Monaco-based, non-profit, non-governmental organization, the IEFTA organizes, finances and promotes festivals,exhibition, education and development. IFIB The International Film Initiative of Bangladesh, IFIB aims to make Bangladesh more visible in the world arena through its films that are artistically driven and thematically matured. It will forge the missing links between the global film community and the talented Bangladeshi filmmakers. Through various initiatives such as workshops, symposiums, exhibitions and meetings at home and abroad, IFIB will prepare the new generation of creative filmmakers from Bangladesh to go for bigger challenges as well as will assist the established filmmakers to present their work to the international film community in a more professional and visible way. By reaching out to world-renowned film festivals, programmers, filmmakers, critics and national and international art, cultural and film bodies, IFIB will make Bangladesh cinema known on the global stage.
Lubna Sharmin, Md Abid Mallick, and Kazi Mahadi Muntasir were the lucky emerging filmmakers of Bangladesh selected for the Dhaka to Cannes Initiative, a first ever initiative of its kind in the country, in partnership with IEFTA were choosen by an international jury to participate in the Producers Workshop at the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes this year at #Cannes2017. ..In his welcome speech, IEFTA President Marco Orsini said IEFTA’s main goal for the “Dhaka to Cannes” initiative was to increase awareness of filmmakers from Bangladesh to the international film community as well as expand the role of the filmmakers coming to Cannes. “We want to empower filmmakers from Bangladesh to be able to compete in a globalised film market,” he added.
Samia Zaman took over to explain how the idea of IFIB was formed from a simple idea of trying to make Bangladesh more visible to the international film community. By reaching out to film festivals, programmers, filmmakers, critics and national and international art, cultural and film bodies, IFIB plans to make Bangladesh cinema known on the global stage.
Lubna Sharmin and Md Abid Mallick, two talented emerging filmmakers of Bangladesh arrived in Cannes to complete the Producer’s Workshop at the Marché du Film of Cannes Film Festival 2017 as part of the Dhaka to Cannes initiative of IFIB, a first ever of its kind in Bangladesh.
This has been a unique opportunity for filmmakers from Bangladesh to gain access to the International film community at the Festival and Marché du Cannes, a yearly event that draws filmmakers, distributors and financiers from around the globe....
