2015 Producers Network program

A spotlight on South Africa is among highlights for the 2015 edition of the Producers Network (May 14-20), one of the most popular initiatives of the annual Marche du Film, which brings together some 500 registered producers on the Riviera each year.

In addition to seven international Breakfast Meets, focusing on different international territories each day, this year’s line-up includes a focus on financing, as well as a talent-pitching session for projects from China, a slot on turning books into film, and the ever-popular nightly Happy Hours, offering further opportunity to meet producers and filmmakers from all over the world

“The Producers Network offers an incredibly busy program that brings together new producers and old-timers, in an informal and informative setting that incorporates casual round-table get-togethers, as well as more formal sessions on key facets of the film industry, like financing,” said Jerome Paillard, the Executive Director of the Marche du Film.

Breakfast Spotlights

The seven Breakfast Meetings during the Producers Network, highlight a different country each day beginning with South Africa. Each breakfast introduces producers from those regions to meet invited guests and participants.

The Opening Breakfast Spotlight on May 14 on South African Producers is presented together with the KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission. On Friday May 15, The Dutch Producers breakfast will be presented with the Netherlands Film Fund. On Saturday May 16, The Spotlight on Czech Producers breakfast will take place with the backing of the Czech Film Center. On Sunday May 17, The Spotlight on Mexican Producers is presented by IMCINE. On Monday May 18, The Canada Spotlight breakfast will be backed by a number of players including Sodec and Telefilm Canada. On Tuesday May 19, The Spotlight on Korean Producers will be hosted by the Korea Film Commissions and Industry Network. And Wednesday May 20, offers a final spotlight on Polish Producers, which is presented by the Polish Film Institute.

Days at the Producers Network are filled with round tables moderated and hosted by an impressive line-up of top industry players, including, this year, Nigel Sinclair of White 2

Horse Pictures, Mike Goodridge of Protagonist Pictures, David Jordan of IM Global, Paul Federbush of the Sundance Institute, Todd Brown of XYZ Films, amongst many others.

The daily Producers Network sessions conclude in the evening with sponsored Happy Hours that provide an additional opportunity to network with international film executives.

Films from Rio is hosting this year’s opening cocktail at the Producers Club, inside the Village International (Pantiero Pavilion 227) from 5-7 pm on May 14. Sponsors for each of the daily Happy Hours, include, the Los Cabos International Film Festival, IFP, the Canada Pavilion and The Jerusalem Film Fund and Festival and Sam Spiegel Film Lab, and New Nordic Films which will co-host an event with Scandinavia Locations and the Nordic Film Market. Also ScripTeast will use its Producers Network Happy Hour to announce its annual Kieslowski Award.

Special Events

Presented within the framework of this year’s Producers Network are a number of special sessions which this year include:

Meet The Financiers is scheduled for May 16 from 3.30- 6 pm at Les Ambassadeurs.

The New Chinese Talents Film Fund pitching event will take place at 2 pm on May 18 at Olympia 1

Shoot the Book, a session on turning French books into films, will take place on May 19 from 10.30-1 pm at Les Ambassadeurs.

Said Julie Bergeron: Head of Industry Programming: “We are delighted to welcome back such a diverse group of hosts, moderators and partners for the 2015 Producers Network Program. Producers have the opportunity to network from as far afield as Mexico and South Africa. And as the business of production becomes ever more of a global endeavor, such get-togethers are becoming increasingly popular. Where better to talk production than here in Cannes?”
