Presenting in Cannes: Road to Revolution When twenty six year old university graduate, Mohamed Bouazizi, set himself ablaze in protest of the municipal corruption in Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia, he ignited a world changing flame. His death created a wave of political turmoil that swept through the Middle East and North Africa, inciting hundreds of thousands to join in the uprising that became known as the Arab Spring. Road to Revolution follows the journey of three Portuguese journalists who travel through Tunisia, Syria, Egypt and Libya, some two years after the uprising. Once there, they meet the men and women who have experienced the consequences of revolution first-hand. From the bold resisters of Egypt’s Tahrir Square to the Syrian refugees, to the freedom fighters and the mothers of Libyan martyrs, Road to Revolution captures the voices of ordinary people caught up in extraordinary circumstances. Amidst a fire storm of tragic upheavals and media hysterics, this documentary stands as an honest and intimate testimony of the past, present and future. Selected for the Rain Dance Film Festival 2013 Winner of the Multimedia Gazeta Award For licensing queries, please contact iml@beactivemedia.com.
