Aislin Animates @ Hotel 10 - 08/20 at 1 pm
Print media is facing turbulent times, but political cartoons have enduring popularity. On digital platforms, animating political cartoons, like Pulitzer Prize-winner Mark Fiore and his team have been doing for over three years, simply makes sense. Most past attempts, however, have proved awkward, time consuming and expensive. Aislin and his team of Mary Hughson and David Sidaway have come up with several approaches for a new creative process - clever animations with pop that can be produced inexpensively within a day!
The three will talk about these early attempts, and the exciting possibilities they hold for other animators in a new media landscape. AISLIN is the name of Terry Mosher's elder daughter, and the nom de plume that he has used for over forty-five years as the political cartoonist for the Montreal Gazette. Mosher is also the President Emeritus of the Association of Canadian Editorial Cartoonists. Mosher is a regular speaker on the topics of humour, history and the importance of cartooning as a communications tool. He has appeared at national conferences such as Idea City, the Banff Festival for The Arts, Montreal's Canadian Club and numerous writers' festivals. Mosher was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in May 2003. From April 7th to August 13th, 2017, Montreal's McCord Museum will host a retrospective of Aislin's work entitiled Aislin: 50 Years of Cartooning - from Trudeau to Trudeau.

La reste de la groupe poursuivent Mok à Nuke York dans une attente de la rétrouver.
A rare presentation of the 1983 Canadian adult animated musical science fiction fantasy film, presented by the director, Clive Smith.
Angel, a member of a punk rock band in the apocalyptic future, is kidnapped by Mok, a legendary superocker. Obsessed with a dark experiment, Mok plans to use Angel’s voice to summon a demon from another dimension. The rest of the band follows Mok to Nuke York in an attempt to get her back.
VR filmmaker and video artist GEORGE SNOW helped define the look of the acid house movement during the 80s MTV underground with his chopped up, high-contrast video collages.
MELLENY MELODY (aka Melleefresh) is the founder of Play Records, a pioneering Toronto dance music label. Notably, Play Records helped launch Deadmau5’s career while Mellefresh continues to collaborate with various artists up to this day. She has also worked as a voice actor with credits in The Care Bears, Inspector Gadget, to name a few.
Montreal-based Producer and DJ, THE BLUE ELEPHANT is one of the hottest newcomers to the Canadian electronic music scene. No one knows where The Blue Elephant came from. Legend has it that he could be a symbolic representation of post-life re-incarnation of the loudest animal on the planet, which would definately pay homage to the party hits this producer releases!
