The Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) created by the Africa Film Academy will celebrate 11th edition

WHO WE ARE

The Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is an offshoot of the Africa Film Academy. It was created in 2005 by Ms. Peace Anyiam-Osigwe.The Academy, founded on the best film tradition, is geared towards research, training and propagating filmmaking in Africa.

Established in 2005, AMAA aims to facilitate the development and relevance of African film & cinema by providing a rewards & recognition platform for film makers on the continent. African film makers work hard with very little and have, not through serendipity but through sheer audacity, managed to build the 3rd largest film industry in the world, and are poised to take poll position, beating America and India.

Today, African films serve as a link for Africans in the Diaspora with Africans at home. These films have the potential to serve as a shared collective experience, a reminder that Africa is a vibrant continent filled with colour, energy and possibility.

VISION AND MISSION

The mission of the Academy is to promote the African culture, encourage professionalism in the movie industry, offer professional development and networking opportunities.

TARGET MARKETS

1. The masses throughout the African continent.
2. The media and primarily television.
3. Movie viewers in other parts of the world outside the African continent.
4. The African movie producers, actors and actresses themselves.

THE CEREMONY

The winners of each category are announced on the night of the event during the live broadcast. The ceremony also showcases Africa's best performances and brings the cream of African actors and actresses together under one roof.

OBJECTIVES

PROMOTE AFRICAN FILM
UNITE AFRICA THROUGH FILM
DEVELOP YOUNG FILMMAKERS
CREATE DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS
ESTABLISH RURAL CINEMAS

AMAA is conceptualized as an annual celebration of the brightest and the best in African movie. It is about class and style, glitz and razzmatazz. The first award of its kind, it is the biggest gathering of movie makers across the African continent. AMAA has evolved from a one-day live televised event to an all-year-round engagement platform for filmmakers, industry professionals and their fans. Today, AMAA is most prestigious and glamorous entertainment industry event of its kind in Africa.
