The time has come to connect film and TV directly to the mobile device:

Imagine:

Receiving rich bonus content of battlefield maps, photos, video and interviews on your smart phone while watching Fury

Coupons for LEGO products delivered to every parent watching in the theatre or at home.

Buying those Jimmy Choo shoes while watching Sex in the City, the Movie.  Or buying your team's Superbowl Champions gear the minute they win.

My name is Daryl Hemingway of Smarttones.tv, and I want to take this opportunity at AFM to introduce you to a new digital media technology, which can be thought of as Second Screen 2.0. It was developed to allow directors to direct the mobile device and provides an exciting and creative platform for rich interactive content.  SmartTones also increase product placement, direct sales and advertising revenue for producers and distributors.  With 86% of TV viewers watching with their smartphones and tablets handy, the time has come for film and television T-commerce, direct from any screen to mobile apps, regardless of when or where it is seen.

I am a writer and producer for films and television with a background in technology at MIT and NASA, and in finance with venture capital and real estate investing.  I love bringing innovative inventions and business models together to create new revenue opportunities.  With Smart Tones, my mission is to connect TV and film to the internet for an enhanced content experience and to support film makers with new sources of content and ad revenues.

Film directors, producers and distributors are starting to use Smart Tones to:

  • Direct the Second Screen Experience for the Audience
  • Create new revenue streams from related products and services
  • Raise financing for films from sponsors and product placement
  • Enable instant purchases and coupon delivery
  • Gather audience data from detailed Google-like analytics

Our official launch is coming up next month but we are currently working on implementing pilot programs with entertainment companies and independent producers. Smart Tones offers new ways to directly interact with viewers on the second screen, generate new ad sales and measure ad effectiveness and ROI, just like on the internet.  Some popular applications are:

  • Rich interactive content delivered whenever the program is viewed
  • True second screen direction of multimedia to each viewer
  • Surveys, polls, games and more
  • Coupons for products and services
  • Product placement without showing labels on-screen
  • Instant purchases

What Google did for e-commerce on the internet, Smart Tones is doing for T-commerce on film and TV.

If these benefits interest you, I would be happy to show you a demo of how Smart Tones work and discuss how you can use Smart Tones in your next or existing film or TV project. I'll be at AFM until Nov. 11th and can be reached at:
