First Run Features Acquires U.S. Rights to Oscar Entry Film "All Governments Lie" Directed by Fred Peabody

Timely and Acclaimed Documentary Executive Produced by Oliver Stone

And Featuring Independent Journalists Amy Goodman, Jeremy Scahill,

Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, Cenk Uygur and Others Opens November 4

Exclusively in New York and Los Angeles for the Qualifying Run

New York, NY – On the day of the New York and Los Angeles qualifying theatrical run, First Run Features (FRF) announced that they have acquired U.S. rights from Canada based White Pines Pictures for Fred Peabody's critically acclaimed documentary "ALL GOVERNMENTS LIE: Truth, Deception, and the Spirit of I.F. Stone." The film opens theatrically on November 4 in New York and Los Angeles.

"We are extremely honored and excited to bring this timely film to American audiences," said Marc Mauceri, Vice President of FRF. "I.F Stone is an almost mythical figure in the history of journalism, and in our current politicalized environment his legacy is incredibly important and revealing.

Independent journalists Amy Goodman, Glenn Greenwald, Jeremy Scahill, Matt Taibbi and others are changing the face of journalism, providing investigative, alternatives to mainstream, corporate news outlets. "ALL GOVERNMENTS LIE: Truth, Deception, and the Spirit of I.F. Stone" follows these important journalists as they expose government and corporate deception – just as the groundbreaking journalist I.F. Stone did decades ago.

The film features in-depth interviews with journalists and opinion makers such as: Carl Bernstein, Noam Chomsky, David Corn, John Carlos Frey, Amy Goodman, Glenn Greenwald, Chris Hedges, Ana Kasparian, Michael Moore, Ralph Nader, Jeremy Scahill, Nermeen Shaikh, Matt Taibbi, and Cenk Uygur.

“It is great to have First Run Features as our distributor in the United States,” says producer Peter Raymont, president of White Pine Pictures.  “The timing of this film is very important in the ever changing climate of the 24 hour news cycle that we all live in. We feel that First Run is a great distribution partner to get this out to as many people as possible.”

The Los Angeles Times hailed the film as a timely, convincing documentary that will cause audiences to question what they see and read.” And IndieWire adds“ the film takes on the inherent flaws of the modern news media and how they are increasingly reluctant to investigate or criticize government policies."  FRF is planning to release the film in early 2017.

The deal was negotiated by Marc Mauceri of FRF and Steve Ord, COO of White Pines Pictures.
