“A DATE WITH MISS FORTUNE” at the American Film Market (AFM) on November 7th, 2015

Vision Films’ most recent feature, Romantic Comedy “A DATE WITH MISS FORTUNE”, to reveal how cultural traditions clash with true love at the American Film Market (AFM) on November 7th, 2015

Vision Films is pleased to announce the U.S. market premiere of their latest feature - “A Date with Miss Fortune”, a romantic comedy starring Joaquim de Almeida (Clear and Present Danger, Our Brand Is Crisis), Jeannette Sousa (Cruel Intentions 2), Ryan Scott (As Time Goes By), Vik Sahay (American Reunion) and Grammy Award-winning recording artist Nelly Furtado – The first market showing is at 3:00 PM at the Double Tree during the AFM in Santa Monica on Saturday, November 7th.

From Canadian director John L'Ecuyer, “A Date with Miss Fortune” is a poignant, heart-warming tale, in the vein of hit films such as “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” and “Meet the Parents”, about how cultural traditions clash with true love. A struggling writer meets a superstitious Portuguese beauty, with no idea that his life and luck are both about to change… if only the two of them can overcome their families’ cultural differences… “A Date with Miss Fortune” is a vibrant, romantic and laugh-out-loud story about passion, destiny, and modern cross-cultural relationships!

Following a successful theatrical release in Portugal, “A Date with Miss Fortune” will be released in theatres across the USA and Canada, in association with Seven Arts and Northern Banner respectively, date and date with DVD and VOD through Vision Films’ domestic label on Valentine’s Day 2016.

Managing Director/ CEO of Vision Films, Lise Romanoff says, “’A Date with Miss Fortune” is a very special, heart-warming treat for Valentine’s Day. The leads are so charming, and its universal story of love, cultural differences and acceptance will appeal to the entire family!”

Vision Films adds “A Date with Miss Fortune” to its slate following its upcoming releases of the romantic dramedy with an all-star cast “A Year and Change”, which follows an everyday man (played by Bryan Greenberg) who decides to make some existential changes in his life; the Disney biopic, “Walt Before Mickey”, based on the book and starring Jon Heder and David Henrie; “Hollows Grove”, a supernatural thriller with Lance Henriksen and Mykelti Williamson; as well as a documentary film “Sam Smith: Dreams Come True”, which looks at the inspirational story of this hugely successful young musician who took the world by storm, and recently wrote the “Spectre” title track.

Celebrating 25 years in business, what defines Vision Films’ colourful upcoming slate is a wide range of genres that will endear, amuse, enlighten, terrify, and inspire.
