Voiz (Orator)

Voizby Jusuf Razykov

Tashkent, around the time of the October Revolution. Iskander (Bakhodyr Adylov) is faced with a knotty problem. He has three wives and that's two more than the Bolsheviks allow.

Iskander is press-ganged into joining the revolution and shows unexpected skills as a public orator, making rousing speeches about the emancipation of women, but he's the one who craves the freedom to hold on to his three-woman harem. To complicate his tangled romantic life even further, he falls in love with Maryam, a party secretary.

Writer and director Jusuf Razykov was born in 1957 in Uzbekistan. He studied at Tashkent State University. In 1981, he entered VGIK in Moscow and served a two-year apprenticeship at the Mosfilm Studio. He has extensive experience directing for TV and has written several feature film screenplays.
