News: Teddy 2000

Teddy 2000

Paragraph 175 by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman looks well-placed for Best Documentary, but the jury's still out (or in, watching films and discussing heatedly) on the other Teddy categories. The buzz for Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau's road movie Drole De Felix is hot, but will the fact that past Teddy winner Nathalie Percillier has already nabbed the Panorama Short Film award for Sticky Dough lessen her Teddy chances?

The only official gay and lesbian film award at an A festival will be bestowed for the 14th time today, at 22:00 at the House of the Cultures of the World, John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10. For the fourth year, the golden boy comes with cash prizes donated by private parties and businesses in the gay community.

Bagdad Café star Marianne Sägebrecht and TV personality Ralph Morgenstern will present the statue, which is designed by comic artist Ralf König. Special guest stars are theatre stalwart Judy Winter and cabaret act Bo Doerek.

Tickets are on sale for DM30 (video broadcast) or DM45 (auditorium seat) at the Berlinale Infoshop, Prinz Eisenherz Bookstore, Anderes Ufer Café, Teddy Office (Fuggerstrasse 7) and all Boxoffice ticket agencies around the city.
