Documentary-maker Taj Wechselmann has always been interested in political resistance. Her father fought in the Jewish resistance in Denmark during World War II.

This interest led her to South Africa. Her film in the Panorama, Tala med mig systrar! (Speak to Me, Sisters!), features interviews with 25 women who tell stories of resisting apartheid.

"These women are role models and their words should be recorded and remembered," Wechselmann said.

This is her third picture to come to Berlin, but through the years she has noticed the frustration of her colleagues.

"After all the effort to raise money to make their films, they can't properly promote them," she lamented, adding that her advice to young film-makers was "to unite". Owen Levy
