Director Jennifer Fox filmed this ambitious nine-part series over eight years, practically moving in with the interracial Sims family. Fox was last represented in the Berlinale Forum a decade ago with Beirut: The Last Home Movie, based on her own family. Once again Fox's personal experience was the inspiration for this series. "I became involved with an African-American man," she says, "and was shocked by the racism we faced. I wanted to do a piece about how people survive under such social pressures."
