Veteran Berlin attendee and perennial globetrotter, Don Ranvaud, has been appointed head of international at Terry Myers and Stanton Kaye's Bouquet Multimedia, the Los Angeles-based studio facility and state-of-the-art post-production centre.
After hitting basic targets to amortise Myers and Kaye's $7 million investment, Ranvaud is looking to involve the facility more actively in production and build a slate of titles to be sold by Bouquet International. Ranvaud expects to premiere as many as four projects at this year's AFM.
"We were really on a short lead for Berlin," explained Ranvaud, "but we will be rocking and rolling by the AFM with a slate of very respectable first projects."
Ranvaud is also in Berlin this year as the executive producer of Walter Salles' Central do Brasil, which screened in competition on Saturday.
Central do Brasil is the latest in a long line of international production credits for Ranvaud who since establishing the Script Fund for the Media programme with Renee Goddard in the late 80s, has been involved with Chen Kaige's Life on a String (as producer) and Farewell My Concubine; Atom Egoyan's Speaking Parts; and several Brazilian productions including the box-office smash Tieta.
"Central do Brasil is one of the best movies I have ever worked on," said Ranvaud. "Walter's talent speaks for itself from the screen. I loved all the Brazilian actors and the crew but perhaps the most extraordinary outcome of my involvement was the opportunity to work with Arthur Cohn. CP
